Early Stage Of Alzheimer
|
|
Alzheimer's disease is a
slow disorder that destroys the brain functions slowly. The disease takes
between seven to ten years to develop.
It is affecting memory,
movement, judgment, abstract reasoning and regular behaviors.
Because of its length, it
has been observed three levels which describes its progression of the
disease. These are mild, moderate and severe.
|
During the early stages of
the disease, the symptoms are less evident and are left unchecked by family
members and even the sufferers themselves. The classic sign is the gradual
loss of short - term memory.
At times, there is a
difficulty in performing normal activities, in understanding or there is
disorientation. Patients often get lost in places that they have been
before. At this stage, it has been observed lapses of judgment and slight
changes in personality. These mood swings and personality changes will get
worse as the disease progress.
Moreover, attention is
getting weaker and the patients tend to be less motivated to achieve
activities or tasks.
The symptoms vary from person
to person and are more or less strong. In addition to the signs described
before, patients might have speech problems, omission to identify or
recognize objects, no recalling how to use simple, ordinary things like a
pencil, and not remembering to turn off the lights, stove, or even lock
doors and windows. As the disease progresses so do these symptoms.
As sufferers become conscious
of their forgetfulness and frequently forget words or names during
conversations, they will tend to avoid social activities and chatting in
order to avoid mistakes and embarrassments.Slowly, there is a danger of anti
- social behaviors.
If things are found in odd
places, it can be a sign of he disease too. Books inside freezers, clothes
in dishwasher and plates in washing machines for example.
Sufferers also will ask questions repeatedly which can become irritating.
They also can be themselves very itchy and be upset quite easily have anger
bursts.
In order to delay the
progression of the disease, there are treatments and methods that have been
created that have to applied as soon as there are early symptoms of the
disease. However, loss of memory for example might be just a normal cause of
aging or other normal factors. It does not necessarily mean that one has
already been afflicted with the disease.
Alzheimer is a reality. It is
important to be cautious when you see family members or close friends
showing signs. The best in to diagnose the disease at its early stage. It is
beneficial to the patient but for the people living with too.
