Food Allergy Blood Test

A person’s life can completely change only because of a simple food allergy.

This reaction of the organism is due to a specific chemical that is a common in same food or same type of food.

Nowadays there are ways to struggle allergies as soon as possible in order to avoid the reactions to take over.

Blood testing is one of the ways to point out which ingredient or chemical is at the origin of an allergy.

How does work the allergic process? Two kinds of development have been distinguished:

Allergens generate immunoglobulin E or IgE , which is an antibody that is then disseminated in the blood stream.
Mast cells tissues of the body tissues , such as throat, nasal cavity, oral cavity, skin, lungs, and the organs of the gastrointestinal plan.

Sometimes allergies have hereditary causes many times it has been observed that people suffering from asthma, eczema, usually have food allergy.

As allergy is latent, it only comes to light when the potential food allergen gets in the body produces the antibody IgE.

This immunoglobulin E is necessary to detect the allergy can through blood testing. The most frequently used blood tests are Radioallergosorbent test (RAST) and CAP-RAST ( which is basically coinciding to RAST but more advanced ).

In blood tests, the result is ranked in a scale from one to six. The presence of the immunoglobulin E or IgE in the patient’s blood proves allergy, but test can not recognize straight away which food or ingredient is the cause of it. the results can last before knowing it.
Some cases have shown as negative although the patient manifests symptoms of food allergy.

Therefore blood tests might seem being expensive and not giving the expected results. There are still other ways that can be employed to evaluate allergy: skin tests, diets or food tests.
And the point of view of a physician is always good to take to be more aware of your condition.
