More and more children
have overweight issues.
In 1999 – 2000, studies made by National health of America show that 15
% of teen-agers have this problem. It is the double than ten years ago.
How can we help our teens to succeed in quick weight loss programs before
their health can be affected?
Methods for adults can be
efficient… but they can’t be applied to teens. Health and organism
patterns are different. They are still developing and cutting down food
consumption without caution can influence their growth. Nutritional needs
have to be taken in consideration.

If teenagers eat too little,
their health is in danger. But in the same time, if they eat more that they
should, the extra food causes weight issues. In the first place, they should
learn to eat food less with saturated fats.
All fried food in fat and
oil, like burgers, potato chips, french fries, and other fatty items such as
cakes, chocolates, butter, cream, peanut butter, pies, cookies, and
generally any sweets and sweet based desserts have to be less consumed and
if possible not being part of their diet.
Like the ones for adults,
programs aimed to teens generally have two basic concepts: the right diet
and regular exercise. And of course, diet pills have to be completely
banned.
Teens today eat large food
portions when they go to fast foods, and are really extremely lazy when it
comes to do exercise. Outdoor activities can help them loosing body weight:
from cutting grass to playing frisbee, push them to move, without showing
it, keeping them motivated.
The problem is that dieting
and exercising are intimidating and shameful for the kids. But it is the
only way so they can take excess fat off their body.
This is why entire family support is necessary. Teens have to be motivated.
Helping them to fight their munches by cooking proper regular balanced
meals, managing to make them be more active is a good help.
Teaching them what to eat and
why is very important too. Explaining why certain foods are beneficial to
their health and how to read food labels is recommended.
Therefore, when they go outside and eat with friends, they will have a sense
of self-discipline and choose the right food according to the diet program
they follow.
Teen can succeed losing extra
pounds thanks to proper quick weight loss programs, and of course the help
of their relatives. It also depends on the motivation. But if the benefits,
especially health benefits, are well explained, incentive will help them to
succeed.
