This typical 17-year-old boy
was always playing a popular video game. His weight was about 235 lbs. But
after four and a half years of playing the said video game, he now weights
about 140 lbs.
How much a game can affect health and weight concerns? Just helping to feel
better and be more self-confident. Before this, he was a quite inactive and
not used to combat activities.
Although the kid was active
as a member of orchestras or animations, he didn't regularly get out for
exercise. And slowly he became really unhappy because of his overweight
losing confidence. The Internet became a way to escape and avoid facing
people in person because of his appearance.
His life in college became
increasingly unbearable which made him gain even more weight. Finally around
October of 2002, a new version DDR USA was released that contained new songs
to dance to. He tried the game out and became addicted to the video
entertainment with a high activity rate. He began to play almost every day
for hours and hours.
Then he subscribed to the
official website where people could meet online and chat about the game. He
started to have regular friends through this channel that persuade him to
play more frequently and for hours in a row. He began losing lots of weight.
After six months of playing,
he was able to lose 45 lbs with any diet. Thanks to this weight loss, he
started to be motivated and made healthy changes in his life such as
following a more healthy diet, and lost an additional 20 lbs.
Regularly playing and
following a healthy diet allowed this teen to keep a healthy weight than
seemed to be impossible to achieve before. This weight loss was a real
success, all because the kid enjoyed playing a videogame that changed
his life.
