When it is time of being
teen-ager, there is a great pressure.
Many new things are happening on the physical side and on the
psychological side.
The kid has to adapt with
the environment and cope with the new things that are coming into their
lives.
So much pressure can lead teens to be obsessed by weight loss until the
point to demand authorization to surgery to get the ideal appearance they
want achieve.
On top of the body’s
chemical and hormonal compositions changes, a teenager also needs to cope
with pressures in the family, at school and in their social group.

In the same group, kids can
be really cruel if they want to. And this is a reality in every middle and
high school in the country. People who are popular and efficient are those
who succeed and are popular.
Therefore, the need to be the first or just be accepted by the majority is
one of the major achievements in this period of life. Unfortunately, the
most common and strongest criterion is the look.
This is perhaps the reason
why people, especially the young are sometimes obsessed by their appearance,
just to be accepted. Dieting is a ticket to be selected in the social circle
that they are craving to belong to.
That is why many kids are
developing eating disorders and a lot of them are applying for
surgeries.
Most of them follow different kinds of diet programs that guarantee them
slimness in very short time. Although these methods do work, when taken to
the extreme, these can be mighty dangerous. In the long run, not only will
they be destroying their bodies and their health, sometimes their lives.
The role of parents is very
important. They are the ones who have to show their children the right way,
to guide them so that they will make the right choices.
One way to do this is to show understanding and support, instead of being
inflexible and opposed.
Due to of this kind of behavior, many kids no longer talk to them about what
they are thinking. But even not liking it, knowing what the teen does and
thinks gives ability to put limits.
If there is no way to change
their mind, the best is supporting them with their decision. Help him or her
to find a proper surgical doctor explaining the good and the bad about it.
Maybe, this can be a way to manage to dissuade him.
Children can be rational when
they want to. They just need the right information said the right way.
Losing weight fast can be a dangerous thing. Give them to read about the
dangers of losing weight fast and tell them the dangers of surgery. Explain
your teen that weight loss is more efficient in the long run.
